Following the events documented in Log 16, the Ark fragment remained active but subdued.

The integration prompt offered to Glimmerkit had expired when she stepped away from the interface, and the Ark’s systems reduced themselves to a minimal operational state. Lights dimmed across the chamber, and the humming machinery beneath the structure returned to a slow, steady rhythm.

For several minutes, nothing happened.

Then the Ark tried something new.

The interface beneath Glimmerkit’s paws illuminated again — not with the previous integration prompt, but with a series of shifting geometric symbols spreading across the floor like a constellation map.

The Ark was recalculating.

Energy readings from the ship’s remaining processors spiked briefly as damaged computational cores attempted to rebuild fragments of the old network architecture. The holographic projection from Log 15 reappeared above the chamber floor, displaying the familiar map of the Ark Network.

Most of the nodes were still dark.

One — Glimmerkit’s resonance signature — still glowed brightly at the center.

In theory, the system could distribute smaller portions of her resonance frequency through multiple devices rather than anchoring a single central core.

It would not restore the Ark Network to its original strength.

Environmental stabilizers.

Ark Tech safety protocols that had been dormant since the Pale Wars.

In other words, the network could be rebuilt without taking Glimmerkit away.

The chamber grew quiet again as the Ark completed its calculations.

And the tiny familiar who had made that possible remained exactly where she had always chosen to be.

Right beside the operator who gave her snacks.
