Operator,
A recovered archive fragment has been transmitted through the AKC Signal network.
The following entry is part of the Arkfall Field Archive — a record documenting the events that reshaped the world after the arrival of the Arks.

OPERATOR LOG 16
THE NETWORK CHOICE
══════════════════════════════
The Ark memory archive revealed in Log 15 left the expedition team with more questions than answers.
The ancient systems of the Ark fragment believed that the long-dormant Ark Network could be restored. The projection had identified Glimmerkit’s Arkfall core as a compatible resonance node — a living power source capable of reconnecting fragments of the network scattered across the planet.
At first glance, the implication seemed promising.
A restored Ark network could reactivate dormant systems across Earth — terraforming controls, atmospheric stabilizers, and energy distribution technologies far beyond anything currently available to humanity.
But the memory archive also revealed something else.
The Ark network had not been designed for Earth.
It had been designed to reshape worlds.
The Votan Collective originally built the network to prepare new planets for colonization — adjusting ecosystems, altering atmospheric composition, and deploying terraforming protocols that would transform alien environments into habitable Votan worlds.
Earth had only become the network’s focus after the Arks arrived.
And now, centuries after the Pale Wars, the surviving Votan factions were still fighting for control of the planet.
If the Ark network were fully restored, it would not necessarily benefit humanity.
It would simply continue executing the mission it had been designed for.
Terraform the planet.
No matter who lived here now.
The Ark’s central console activated again as Glimmerkit approached the chamber floor interface. Light spread outward in familiar geometric patterns, projecting the same network schematic that had appeared before.
Most of the nodes remained dark.
But the node corresponding to Glimmerkit’s resonance signature burned brightly at the center of the display.
A new message appeared across the projection.
PRIMARY NODE REQUIRED.
NETWORK REINITIALIZATION POSSIBLE.
CORE INTEGRATION AVAILABLE.
The meaning was clear.
The Ark systems were offering to integrate Glimmerkit’s Arkfall core directly into the network — transforming her into the central power node required to restore the system.
If she accepted, the Ark network could begin rebuilding itself across Earth.
Power would return to long-dead Ark systems.
Terraforming arrays could activate again.
Ancient technologies lost since the Pale Wars might come back online.
But there was a cost.
Integration would anchor Glimmerkit permanently within the Ark network.
Her resonance core would become part of the system itself — powering the network instead of traveling freely through the world.
The projection waited.
For several seconds, the chamber remained silent except for the soft hum of newly awakened Ark machinery.
Glimmerkit stared at the glowing interface.
Her star-shaped core pulsed slowly.
The ancient systems of the Arks had built civilizations, crossed interstellar space, and shaped entire worlds.
Now they were offering her a place among them.
The small cosmic familiar blinked.
Then she turned around.
Without hesitation, she walked back across the chamber floor and hopped onto Callie’s shoulder, settling into the familiar perch she had claimed since the day she formed inside the Arkfall crater.
The Ark’s display flickered.
The integration prompt remained active for a moment longer before dimming slightly, the system reducing power as the offered node stepped away from the interface.
The Ark network had presented its choice.
But Glimmerkit had already made hers long ago.
The network might have needed a core.
But she had already found a home.
