SIGNAL TIMESTAMP: DAY 03 — RELAY NODE ACTIVE

Operator,

A recovered archive fragment has been transmitted through the AKC Signal network.

The following entry is part of the Arkfall Field Archive — a record documenting the events that reshaped the world after the arrival of the Arks.

THE FIRST ARKFALL ENCOUNTER

══════════════════════════════

Arkfall zones are rarely quiet.

Most impact sites burn with unstable energy, humming machinery, and the slow crackle of alien crystals growing out of the earth. Instruments spike, communications distort, and even the ground can shift underfoot.

But the Arkfall site that would change everything began strangely calm.

The impact had occurred hours earlier. A fragment of orbital debris — likely from one of the shattered Arks — had finally broken through the atmosphere and slammed into the surface. By the time the coordinates reached Ark Hunter command, the site had already begun stabilizing.

When Callie arrived, the crater glowed faintly in the dark.

Fragments of Ark Tech were scattered across the impact zone — fractured panels, exposed conduits, and pieces of alien machinery partially fused into the surrounding rock. Arkfall crystals had already begun forming between the wreckage, their orange light pulsing like slow heartbeats.

The scanners showed unstable readings.

But something else was happening.

The Arkfall energy wasn’t dispersing the way it normally did.

It was gathering.

At the center of the crater, where a fractured piece of Ark Tech had embedded itself deep into the ground, the surrounding crystals had formed a rough circle. The air shimmered with heatless light, tiny embers drifting upward like glowing dust.

Then the energy moved.

It pulled inward, folding into itself the way a collapsing star might — not violently, but deliberately. Sparks condensed, light tightened, and slowly the shape of something small began to form.

A body no larger than a kitten.

Star-dark fur patterned with faint nebula swirls.

A tail trailing a soft ember flame.

And at the center of the tiny creature’s chest, a radiant star-shaped Arkfall core flickered into existence.

The creature opened her eyes.

Bright emerald.

Curious.

For a moment neither of them moved.

Arkfall anomalies are unpredictable. Some discharge violently when approached. Others destabilize when exposed to atmospheric changes.

This one simply watched.

The tiny creature tilted her head, studying the stranger standing at the edge of the crater.

Callie knelt slowly, lowering herself into the glow of the Arkfall crystals. Instruments on her suit hummed quietly, warning of unstable radiation levels, but the creature showed no signs of aggression — only cautious fascination.

From a pocket came the simplest offering imaginable.

Snacks.

The little cosmic kitten’s ears twitched.

Her ember tail flickered brighter.

She stepped forward carefully, paws leaving faint sparks against the crystal-strewn ground. The glowing core in her chest pulsed once, twice… then steadied as she accepted the offering.

In that moment, the surrounding Arkfall energy stabilized.

The chaotic readings on the scanner softened. The swirling embers around the crater dimmed slightly, as though the energy had finally found a place to settle.

The tiny creature sat beside Callie, contentedly finishing her snack.

Later analysis would suggest that the Arkfall energy had condensed around fragments of fallen Ark Tech, stabilizing long enough to form a living consciousness.

In research terms, it was the first recorded case of a resonant Arkfall familiar.

But in the moment, it felt far simpler than that.

A small cosmic creature born from falling stars and the fractured remnants of fallen Ark Tech had decided to stay.

And from that night forward, the Arkfall familiar known as Glimmerkit would accompany the AKC operator through every anomaly, meteor storm, and crystal field — sensing Arkfall energy long before any instrument could detect it.

All because someone offered kindness.

…and snacks.
